Top 10 Interactive Maths Websites for Teaching Mathematics

Here is a list of my top 10 hands on teaching websites that you can use on the smartboad/interactive whiteboard. Vote or comment below.

Number 10 – A Maths Dictionary For Kids

Another site developed by the wonderful Jenny Eather from www.writingfun.com andwww.rainforestmaths.com

Number 9 – Internet4Classrooms



A great resource for upskilling yourself or your students in any area of education. Simply click on the ‘Links for K-12’ and begin searching through hundreds of interactive web activities.

Number 8 – Ideal-Resources

A great tool for all students to have. As a teacher you set the lessons up and the children can then have a look at the resources and do the activities when they log in.

Number 7 – Get Smart by Copacabana Primary School

A wonderful selection of resources that can be used on the interactive whiteboard for all areas of primary mathematics.

Number 6 – Woodlands Junior School

The English Primary School developed by Mandy Barrow is simple to use and has a vast array of activities to do on the IWB, as well as independent practice on individual computers.

Number 5 – Rainforest Maths

Once a free site, this tremendous resource allows children to go off and practice what has been taught as a focus on the computer. They receive points for getting answers correct and the question have a demonstration before they start.

Number 4 – Institute of Science, Mathematics and Technology Education (MSTE)

With hundreds of manipulatives and modules for students to undertake, this is a tremendous resource.

Number 3 – Illuminations

Illuminations has been found on a section of the website for the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics since 2000. Students and teachers from Pre-Kindergarten through High School can use these interactivities.

Number 2 –Interactivate by Shodor

Another great bank of manipulatives from year 3 upwards. It even has undergraduate manipulatives for adults who have finished secondary school.

Number 1 – National Library of Virtual Manipulatives

A free website for all areas of mathematics for children from prep/kinder all the way up to year 12. There are literally hundreds of activities that you can do to show how mathematics works.
